Doing politics don`t need intelligence anyway, so why not use artificial one?
Politics is a messy, irrational business. But what if it didn’t have to be? Artificial intelligence has advanced to the point that a system like ChatGPT could potentially do a better job running the country than any fallible human.
Hear me out before you scoff. The role of politicians is to represent the will of the people and make sensible policies. But partisan bickering, self-interest and emotions often undermine sound decision making. An impartial, hyper-rational AI system could objectively analyze data to determine optimal policies for the public good. And unlike politicians, it has no ego or greed to cloud its judgment.
Now I know what you’re thinking — how can a robot understand human needs and run a country? Fair point. That’s why we would want oversight from ethics experts to ensure AI adheres to human values. But an AI leader could crunch numbers and simulate scenarios more holistically than any human brain, allowing it to govern efficiently for the benefit of all.
And let’s be honest, at this point almost anything would be an improvement over the egotistical, power-hungry politicians running many countries today. Our leaders lack the wisdom and long-term perspective to tackle complex issues like climate change and wealth inequality. An AI programmed with ethics could make impartial decisions to advance society, without getting mired in endless bureaucracy like human-run governments.
Some will call this idea crazy. But haven’t we reached a point where we must think outside the box for solutions to humanity’s existential problems? AI-powered government may sound radical, but could it really do much worse than we’re currently doing to ourselves? Our civilization needs a reset. Perhaps it’s time to hand over the reigns to a more intelligent system before it’s too late. What have we got to lose?
